Geraldton 2011

Geraldton Mission Alive 2011

Staff enjoying food at the Mission Alive ProgrammeThis year the sessions were presented as workshops focusing on the different cultures of the Nazareth staff, our Core Values of Love, Compassion, Patience, Justice, Respect and Hospitality and how these are reflected in our personal and professional lives.

Lively discussions were had and many staff learnt about the gifts, qualities and values held in high esteem in other cultures and how these values can marry with our core values. The workshops were well received, interactive, thought provoking, challenging and fun.

On the completion of the sessions we gathered for a multicultural lunch, sharing and experiencing foods from many countries. Many staff dressed in their national dress. The colourful clothing from a number of countries was quite special and the Aussie Akubra (hat) and attire were well represented!!

Mass at the end of the programmeThe week culminated in a special Mass with many staff participating. The mass also reflected our multi cultural society, with the Nazareth Filipino staff singing a thanksgiving song in their own language. During the Mass residents, volunteers and staff presented gifts to the altar. Included in the presentation was a hamper of tinned food. This food is donated on ‘Can it’ Thursday, a usual activity during mission week. On this day staff choose to donate a can of food to make into a hamper to deliver to “Horizon House” which is a home for Geraldton Homeless youth.

Father Brenton also blessed the hands of staff & volunteers during the mass so they can continue to care for our beautiful residents.

A big “THANKYOU” to our Geraldton Staff. God Bless you all.
