Sister Mary Hill
Sister Mary Hill, enjoys working as a Parish Sister at St. Michael’s & All Angels Parish, New Hey Road, Woodchurch, Wirral, Birkenhead, England.
Sister Mary’s ministries consist of visiting the wards in the local hospital; bringing Holy Communion to the sick in their homes, and conducting centring prayer and faith sharing services in the homes for older people throughout the parish area. Some of her other duties include working with support groups, and being involved in a prayer chain of twenty people.
Sister Mary says that what she likes about working in Parish Ministry is the fact that it connects our Congregation, the Sisters of Nazareth, with the larger Church. She said that because she has a disability which prevents her from undertaking many of the tasks that are traditional to the Sisters of Nazareth, having time to listen, really listen, and share in other peoples’ joys and sorrows is extremely important in today’s fast-paced society.
“I believe this is one way of reverently carrying the work of our Foundress forward among those who truly need a listening ear in today’s world,”
says Sister Mary.
