The Men's Shed

Whether it’s making nesting boxes, bird feeders, doll’s cots or clothes horses, the Men’s Shed at Nazareth House is a hub of activity and good times.

It’s a place the residents eagerly anticipate visiting – not only to enjoy the camaraderie, but also the sense of purpose, creativity and accomplishment time there brings.

Residents can work on individual projects or can work collaboratively with others on a shared project.

The Men’s Shed is also home to the weekly gardening group which uses the shed for potting plants, seedlings and herbs, which are then sold at the annual Nazareth House fete, or planted in the gardens for everyone to enjoy.

Nazareth House’s Lifestyle Support Staff lend a hand in the shed and also make sure the men are well fed – cooking up toasted sandwiches or a barbeque, washed down by a cup of tea, a beer or a wine.

It’s a great environment and staff say it changes the lives of the men who take part.

They all look forward to it; it’s the highlight of their week.

Donations of materials for use in the shed are most welcome.
